• PubMed

  The primary database for literature in the healthcare field is Medline. PubMed provides free online access to the database.

• FORE Library: HIM Body of Knowledge (BOK) (you can search for free, but need to be a member to view content)
• Medical Library search engine (searches the web pages of medical libraries; good for finding presentations and handouts)

Subscription-based:

• Cochrane Collaboration (you can browse summaries for free)
• Science Direct (You can search the database for free if you register, or you can access the database and abstracts for free through Scirus without registering.)

Subscription-based (these are usually only available for searching through a library subscription):

• OVID databases (particularly Medline, CINAHL, Cochrane)
• Proquest Nursing and Allied Health
